As an organization, we prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants, regardless of their age. Whether they are younger swimmers or those who are more experienced and older, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for everyone to relish the thrill of marathon open water swimming.
To avoid unnecessary pressure on participants and maintain the integrity of Lake Tahoe course attempts, we have consciously decided not to recognize the “oldest” or “youngest” participants to complete a course. We recognize that setting such records could lead to pushing children and older adults into challenges beyond their capabilities, given the unique nature and challenges of Lake Tahoe.
Instead, we focus on fostering a culture of inclusivity and celebrating personal achievements without placing undue emphasis on age-related milestones. We encourage participants of all ages to participate in marathon swimming, and we carefully evaluate their experience, training, and readiness to ensure their safety and enjoyment before assigning an observer or ratifying their attempts.
Our commitment remains to offer all participants a safe and rewarding experience, promoting the joy of marathon open water swimming without unnecessary pressures or risks.
Please contact us if you have any further questions or need more information. We look forward to welcoming you to Lake Tahoe Open Water Marathon Swimming!
